Marketing

Email Marketing and Marketing Automation
I am currently the Senior Email Marketing Manager for established software company Seagull Scientific, producers of BarTender, the world's most popular enterprise labeling, barcode and RFID software. Using HubSpot I send up to 50+ published emails monthly, 500,000 emails monthly, and emails in 7 languages to channel partners, customers, marketing leads, and event attendees.

I create and optimize lead gen campaigns, including landing pages, automated workflows, drip email campaigns, checking client rendering, data enrichment, data cleansing, bot detection, performance analysis and reporting, A/B testing, reputation management, and monitor inbox placement.

I am jointly responsible for global email compliance (GDPR, PIPL, CASL, etc), ADA compliance, and best practices for accessability.
Marketing Operations
I help companies choose and run platforms their marketing teams use to run their projects. Recent large projects have included
  • ABM platforms (ZoomInfo, Terminus, 6Sense, etc)
  • Data enrichment (Clearbit, Dun & Bradstreet, etc)
  • Email reputation (DataAxle Inboxable, Kickbox, Neverbounce, etc)
  • Email signatures (Exclaimer, OpenSense, NewOldStamp, etc)
  • Password management (1Password, Lastpass, etc)
    • included complete account and password audit, changing all passwords, implementing 2FA
  • Project management (Trello, Asana, Teamwork, Clickup, Airtable, Monday.com
    • Included building project management workflows and automantions
  • Survey tools (SurveyMonkey, HubSpot, Jotform, etc)

Leadership
I pride myself on the leadership and mentorship I bring to the teams I lead, the entire marketing department, and the company at large. A firm believer in staff empowerment and career progression, I regularly
  • Train staff on marketing theory
  • Teach graphic design concepts (e.g. What is a vector image? What filetype should I use, etc.)
  • Run Photoshop tutorials
  • Invite colleagues to relevant webinars and in-person training events
  • Assist and consult on projects on which I have expertise, such as surveys, web design, compliance, Excel, slideshow/presentation feedback, and accessability in design.
Market Research
In addition to running staff and customer satisfaction (CSAT) surveys, I worked for online market research SaaS platform, market research company, and startup Discuss.io for 8 months, mostly as interim head of marketing.

Prior to that, I have experience over 7 years as an interviewer for Roy Morgan & Realise Group. Includes in depth interviews, focus groups, face-to-face surveys, digital surveys, customer experience measurement and mystery shopping.

I also teach market research, and consult with businesses and business units running NPS surveys, CSAT, demographic, and other surveys.
I have also compiled a neutral language Likert scale resource.
"[David is] reliable and thorough, with a relaxed attitude. All very good qualities for an interviewer!"

Consulting

I sit down and listen to businesses about how their business is going, what they've tried in the past, and what's in their future. I help plan and execute that future.
"What I liked about David's style was that he first listened to my situation, and then offered suggestions that were tailored to my business's actual situation - nothing was cookie-cutter - and so I wound up with a lot of great ideas that really worked. He is professional and conscientious in his work, and I highly recommend him.
- Chris Wells, Tokyo Comedy Store
Academic and Scientific Research - Postgraduate Level
I graduated from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland with a Master of Science in Marketing degree in 2017.
My dissertation (thesis) was on sensory packaging cues, and their subconscious effects on consumer perception. Read more about it here.

I'm experienced in navigating academic paper repositories and software (e.g. Mendeley).
