Dangerous Products: In Our Home and In Our Stomachs ↗
Presented with microbiologist Virginia Ng. Irrational people fear WiFi, contrails ("chemtrails") and fluoride, but historically, there have been legitimately dangerous products marketed as safe. Flammable, toxic, radioactive and generally bad for you, we'll look at products that harmed, and the marketing that went with them. Hydrogenated margarine, lead paint, and x-ray hair removal are just a few. We'll also look at formerly dangerous things that turned out to be fine, like the formerly leprous potatoes, and things we know are bad for us but we consume anyway. Come along. It'll be good for your health. Read more | 1hr, but dose makes the poison. |

From used panties available in bulk, to slum tourism in Jakarta. You'll learn why you shouldn't take public transport or a volcanic hot spring bath in Sumatra, the price of an apple in one of Tokyo's most expensive department stores, and cry-laugh your way through my first commute on a Tokyo subway - which the audience gets to recreate by the way!
